Postdoc - The effect of climate change on hydropower production and balancing

We are recruiting a postdoc to join a multidisciplinary research project involving the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI), The Royal Institute for Technology (KTH), Chalmers University of Technology, Energiforsk and PROFU.

The project will increase the knowledge of how climate change at 1.5 and 2 degrees rise in the earth’s average temperature affects the Swedish hydropower’s production and regulating capacity. Furthermore, the project will analyze how changing conditions for hydropower could affect the long-term development of Sweden’s electricity system and how this in turn places new demands on hydropower. The overall aim is to show how the hydropower in a changed future climate can continue to be a regulating, safe and efficient energy resource. At the same time, the project lays the foundation for being able to include climate change in future long-term forecasts.
