I began national energy system modeling in 1995 and maintained deeco for seven years. deeco classes as the first open energy system model and was being publicly distributed by 2004 under a GPL-2.0+ license via SSH shell account. I later wrote xeona, a hybrid agent-based high-resolution energy model with support for sector markets, supply contacts, and adaptive bidding. Both models were programmed in C++, my favorite language. I continue to work voluntarily in the field and my current interests are open energy sector data and helping the nascent open energy modeling community develop. I have degrees in mechanical engineering and energy management. Originally from New Zealand, I now live in Berlin.
